Postpartum Care and Newborn Basics
This comprehensive course will equip participants with the essential knowledge and skills to provide optimal postpartum care and newborn support. The curriculum covers various topics, including physiological changes in the postpartum period, emotional well-being, breastfeeding, newborn care, sleep patterns, and everyday challenges. Participants will learn evidence-based practices, practical techniques, and effective communication strategies to support new parents. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and hands-on simulations, this course empowers individuals to confidently navigate the complexities of postpartum care and provide compassionate support to families during this transformative time. Summer's newborn and postpartum course is 20 hours.
Prenatal Care
Alleviating Anxiety Through Prenatal Education
This course empowers expectant mothers and professionals by providing comprehensive prenatal education from the first trimester through postpartum care. By addressing common anxieties and concerns, participants will gain confidence in their ability to navigate the journey of pregnancy and childbirth. This course will cover essential topics such as fetal development, nutrition, exercise, labor and delivery techniques, and postpartum care through engaging lectures, interactive discussions, and practical exercises. By the end of the course, participants will feel well-prepared and equipped to embrace the joys of parenthood with greater ease and confidence.

Postpartum Doula Certification Requirements
To earn your Postpartum Doula Certification, you must complete the following requirements:
Core Requirements:
- Course Completion: Complete our comprehensive Postpartum Doula Training course.
- Clinical Hours: Accumulate 600 hours of hands-on experience supporting postpartum families. This experience can be gained through:
- Client Support: Providing direct care to postpartum families, including newborn care, maternal care, and family support.
- Clinical Rotations: Participating in supervised clinical rotations at hospitals, birthing centers, or home birth settings.
- Volunteer Work: Volunteering with organizations that support postpartum families.
- CPR Certification: Maintain a current CPR certification for infants and adults.
Additional Requirements:
- Written Exam: Pass a written exam demonstrating knowledge of postpartum care, newborn care, maternal health, family support, and relevant ethical guidelines.
- Client Reviews: Submit positive client reviews or letters of recommendation from at least five families you have supported.
- Professional Liability Insurance: Maintain professional liability insurance coverage.
- Certification: Included in the cost of the training for the first 2 years.
- Recertification: Every 2 years, you will need to renew your certification with a continued education course; the cost to renew is $69
Certification Process:
- Complete Course and Clinical Hours: Successfully finish and accumulate the required clinical hours.
- Submit Documentation: Provide proof of course completion, clinical hours, CPR certification, and client reviews.
- Pass Written Exam: Write an essay about what a postpartum doula means to you.

Overnight Doula Training
Our training provides step-by-step guidance for sleep shaping each week, allowing you to train a healthy baby to sleep longer and successfully stretch by 16 weeks old. It is a combination of Summer's Sleep Secrets and Lisa's postpartum sleep program. This course is 3.5 hours long.
Postpartum Lactation Class
- have a solid understanding of normal breastfeeding and milk production (0-4 mos)
- know how to manage the timing of overnight feeds (balancing bottles/pumping and nursing)
- know how to navigate the "tradeoff" between newborn sleep shaping and breastfeeding and how to talk to families about it
- know how to support families who are dealing with breastfeeding issues (from a non-clinical standpoint)
- know when to refer the client to an IBCLC, and how to know who's a good IBCLC to refer to
- basic rules for protecting breastfeeding until the LC arrives
